What does automotive warehousing involve that general warehousing does not?

SKU depth and part-number precision. A parts catalogue runs to thousands of line items where two numbers differ by a single digit and fit two different model years, so the whole operation turns on exact-match picking and on a location system that can hold a great many slow-moving items without losing them. General warehousing optimises for throughput; automotive parts logistics optimises for being right.

Do you handle both aftermarket and OEM parts?

Yes, on the same floor. Aftermarket distribution tends to be broad and slow-moving with sharp seasonal spikes; OEM supply tends to be narrower, heavier and scheduled. The storage profile differs — deep racking for the long tail, pick faces for the movers — but the receiving dock, the count and the system are shared.

Can you ship to dealerships, repair shops and end customers from the same stock?

That is the normal case. One inventory pool feeds a pallet to a dealer network, a case to an independent shop and a single sensor in a padded box to a consumer, and all three draw down the same count. Splitting them across vendors is what creates the phantom stock most parts sellers are fighting.

How do you pack parts that range from a sensor to a truck hood?

With two different pack profiles and a rule about which applies. Small electronics get boxed with fill and a crush margin; sheet metal, hoods, bumpers and fascia get built onto a pallet with edge protection and, where it is going export or long-haul, a crate. We keep crating in the building precisely so the awkward end of the catalogue does not have to leave for a third vendor.

Do you process automotive returns and core returns?

Yes. Returns are received, inspected, graded and either put back into sellable stock or set aside, and cores are handled as their own flow because a core is inventory with a deposit attached, not a defect. High return rates are normal in parts — what is not normal is letting them sit in a corner uncounted.

Where is the warehouse, and which markets does it reach?

Kent, Washington, in the Kent Valley between Seattle and Tacoma, eighteen miles from the Port of Seattle. That puts imported parts on a rack the same day the container comes off the terminal, and puts outbound freight on I-5 for the whole Northwest.
